Till then, a word on the Olympics.
I wonder what my father would think of all this if he were alive? He was born a few 100 metres away from the sight of the Olympic Stadium. It was his manor. It was where he grew up. It was where he met my mother. It was where he worked. It's what made him. It's what made me. So for me, today isn't just about London, but about the East End of London, and all those who made the best of it through the years. I don't brandish the word 'proud' about; it's an inaccurate, overused term. I would just say 'finally' the old place is having its moment. And it's a beautiful thing.
